Twitter is an online social networking and microblogging site where users send and read "tweets", which are limited to 280 characters. Registered users can read and post tweets, but unregistered users can only read them. It's important to remember that tweets are public and searchable.

The public nature of Twitter makes it a wonderful platform for many uses, including educational, but the public nature is what causes parents to pause and to be concerned for their children. In addition, Twitter is now owned by Elon Musk who has promised to open it up to more "free speech" and has largely eliminated former moderation oversight.
